A: The mission of the Norwich Children First Initiative is to engage our families, schools, and community to improve life outcomes for young children.

The Children First Initiative/School Readiness Council Collaborative is an effort to create an early care and education agenda that fully engages parents, schools, and the community.

Q: "When and where does Children First Norwich / School Readiness Council meet?"

A: Children First Norwich / School Readiness Council meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month at the Dime Bank at 290 Salem Turnpike Norwich, at 9:00AM.

Q: “What is School Readiness?”

A: School Readiness is a state funded program with three main objectives:

  • 1) To increase the number spaces for preschool children in high quality child care programs
  • 2) To increase the number of full day/full year spaces to meet the needs of families in Connecticut
  • 3) To share the cost of providing high quality care and education for young children among the state, state agencies, communities and families
