The mission of Children First Norwich is to engage our families,
schools, and community to improve life outcomes for young children.

Collaboration

Norwich has had several successes due to the Children First Initiative:

  • Norwich worked with Groton’s School Readiness Council on a joint school readiness application.
  • Collaborated with New London Children First Initiative on resources and lessons learned.
  • The Norwich Children First Initiative worked with the Public School system and the University of Connecticut to establish a childcare program located at one of the City’s elementary schools.
  • Norwich also worked with Child & Family Agency and a parent group to establish a Parent Leadership Training Institute.
  • Collaborated on school readiness legislation, an Even Start grant, and the Municipal Childcare Center building project.
